Education in Albania

Albania follows a secular education system. Literacy rate in the country is about 94- percentage. Though elementary education is compulsory most students complete their secondary education. While elementary education offers education to students till grade 9, secondary education includes students from 10th grade to 12th grade. At the end of the 9th and 12th grade students must successfully pass graduation exams. There are about 5000 schools across the country. Most of these are public schools. Academic year in every school of the city is divided into two semesters. The academic session in each school begins in September and it finishes in the month of November.

Albania is famous for its myths. Albanian myths are largely divided into two major groups. One is the legend of metamorphosis and while the other section includes the historical legends. Some of the best known legends in Albaian are Rozafa, Besa e Kostandinit. In addition to these other popular legends of Albania are Gjergj Elez Alia, Ymer Age Ulqini and Cikli i Kreshnikeve.
