Tirana has its own airport called the Tirana International Airport Nene Tereza. It gets its name from Mother Tereza who was an Albanian. The airport is also called the Rinas International Airport. It is the only international airport in the country of Albania. You can fly to Tirana from Greece, Rome, Austria, Turkey and other countries in Europe. The airport in Tirana is situated 25 kilometers away from the city, in the village of Rinasi. Getting to Tirana: By Train
Albania in not connected to other countries by railroads. However, the main cities in Albania are connected by railroads. There are regular trains running from Durres to Pogradec via Elbasan. The railway station is situated towards the north of the Skenderberg Square in the Boulevard Zogu region of the city of Tirana. So, you can get to Tirana from Durres, Pogradec or Elbasan by train.
Getting toTirana: By Sea
Tirana has no port. However, the city of Durres, located at a 30 minutes drive from Tirana, has a port. There are regular passenger ferry services from Durres to Trieste in Italy and Koper in Slovenia. There are also catamaran services to Bari in Italy from Durres. If you want to come to Tirana from Italy then you have to catch a ferry and sail to Durres. Then from Durres you can catch a train or a bus to Tirana.
Getting to Tirana: By Bus
You can get to Tirana from the surrounding countries of Greece, Macedonia and Kosovo by road. The city runs international coach services to Greece via Korce. There are taxi services from the city to Kosovo and the Republic of Macedonia.
