Argentina at Olympics




The modern Olympics saw the first light of the day in the year 1900, and since then Argentina has always participated in the modern games. The celebrations in Paris were initially overshadowed by the World's Fair exhibition and Argentina has always been an avid participant in the Games since the 1900s. Argentina at the Olympics was a striking feature in the year 1900s ,the first year of the games. The Olympics have always been co hosted with the intercalated Games, which were held in 1906. The Argentinean Olympic committee has always sent a contingent to the Olympic Games for time immemorial.Argentina at Olympics were a monumental event and were a success in their own right.

From the initial 241 participants from 14 nations in 1896, the Olympics Games grew to a movement of sorts as all the nations including the Argentinean national Olympic team. The team had participants in events like archery, athletics, boxing, cricket and croquet, cycling, equestrian, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, polo, rowing, rugby, sailing, shooting, swimming, tennis and water polo and tug of war


The Second Olympiad was held in the stadium Velodroma de Vincennes near Paris. Built in the year 1894 the stadium became the main stadium in 1900 Olympiad, while the racing events were held at the Racing Club of France. The Paris Olympics were a watershed event in the life of Argentinean Olympic participation. It was for the first time that women athletes were fielded and they had participated along with the men and they all took part in 20 disciplines comprising 19 sports. Wrestling and weightlifting were games that did not see Argentinean participants. There were 13 other games that saw new athletes fielded for the first time by the Argentinean National Sports committee.
