Rugby in Argentina: Argentine Rugby Union
The country's rugby union is governed by the Union Argentina de Rugby (UAR) or the Argentine Rugby Union. Union Argentina de Rugby has earned a membership in the International Rugby Board with a place in the board's Executive Council. The Argentina National Rugby Union Team, also called Los Pumas, is organized by the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR).

Rugby was introduced in Argentina by the Welsh when they set their foot in Patagonia. In the year 1873 the country's first rugby match was played. In the year 1899 the four rugby clubs in Argentina formed a united club in Buenos Aires called the River Plate Rugby Football Union. It comprised of Welsh players. In the year 1951, on 29th November, it was rechristened as Union Argentina de Rugby (UAR) and was affiliated to the COI -Argentinean Olympic Committee. In 1987 UAR acquired a membership of International Rugby Board( IRB). UAR is one of the world's oldest rugby unions. Presently, many Argentinean players play professionally in England, France and Italy. The current Argentinian rugby team consists of European players.
Rugby in Argentina: Argentina National Rugby Union Team (Los Pumas)
The Los Plumas or the Argentina National Rugby Union Team is the leading rugby team in the whole of The Americas. The players in the team are identified by their sky blue and white jerseys. In the year 1910 the country played internationally against British Isles team. It has always been selected to play for the World Cup since 1987. In the Rugby World Cups of 1987, 1991 and 1991 it reached the Pool Stage, while in the year 1999 World Cup it played in the Quarter finals.
