Metropolitan Cathedral

Metropolitan Cathedral is one of the major Argentina tourist attractions. The Cathedral was constructed in 1745 at the Plaza de Mayo. He swore he would donate a statue to the church if they were ever found, and they were. While Argentina is a strongly Catholic nation, it is not very big on ritual. The façade of the Cathedral has carvings that narrate the story of Jacob and his son Joseph. This architectural wonder was declared as a cathedral in 1836.

The Metropolitan Cathedral in Argentina houses the remains of General Jose de San Martin, who was the liberator of Argentina. It is located in Rivadavia Street and San Martin. The current structure of the Cathedral was built towards the mid 19th century and features Venetian mosaic floors, and gilded columns. The interiors are well decorated with silver-plated altar.

The Cathedral holds the remains of General Jose de San Martin, who was Argentina's greatest independence hero. The mausoleum of General Jose de San Martin is beautifully embellished here. The actual body of the Metropolitan Cathedral was built in 1745 and was designed with new facade with the original structure of the Metropolitan Cathedral which had carvings that narrated the story of Jacob and his son Joseph. The remains of San martin are kept in the Metropolitan cathedral since 1880.

To the east of the Metropolitan cathedral in Argentina is a chapel with a statue of Jesus Christ. The look of the cathedral was changed from a traditional Spanish colonial look to a Greek-revival style at that time, with a pediment and colonnade in front, though the sides, back, and exterior dome remain similar to the original. The Cathedral is open from Monday to Friday from 8AM till 7PM and on Saturdays 9AM till 7:30PM.
