Armenia, known as the Republic of Armenia, is a landlocked hilly country in Eurasia situated between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea in the Southern Caucasus. It is bounded by Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, and Iran and the Nakhchivan territory of Azerbaijan to the south. Armenia has maintained its strong sociopolitical and cultural relations with Europe.

Armenians have their own typical alphabet and language. The alphabet was discovered in 405 AD by Saint Mesrob Mashtots. It consists of thirty-eight letters. Two of these letters were further added during the Cilician period. In Armenia, 96% of the people speak Armenian, while 75.8% of the inhabitants as well speak Russian even though English is becoming more and more popular.

Armenia is situated in the southern Caucasus and is the tiniest of the former Soviet republics. It is surrounded by Georgia on the north, Azerbaijan on the east, Iran on the south, and Turkey on the west. Modern Armenia is a part of the size of very old Armenia. The highest point of Armenia is Mount Aragats which is 13,435 ft. It is also known as a land of rocky mountains and extinct volcanoes.

The weather in Armenia is noticeably continental. The summer seasons are dry and sunny. It lasts from June to mid-September. The low humidity level reduces the possibility of high temperatures. The breezes in the evening that blows down the mountains, offer a welcome stimulating and cooling effect.

Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is home to the National Art Gallery which has more than 16,000 works that date back to the middle Ages. Art Museums like the Modern Art Museum, the Children’s Picture Gallery, and the Martiros Saryan Museum are only a few of the other notable compilations. Apart from that, many private galleries are in process, with many extra opening each year. They characterize revolving exhibitions and sales.
