He established this majestic cathedral to devote it to St. George at the region where a convention between Gregory the Illuminator and King Trdat III was to take place. In 930, the church was totally demolished by an earthquake and stayed immersed until its refurbishment in the early 20th century. The site was turned up in between 1900 and 1907 exposing the establishments of the cathedral and remains as the Katholikos palace and a vineyard.

The interior part of this church was fresco designed. It was made in the shape of a Greek cross with total three aisles, whereas the exterior was total 32-sided polygon that appeared round-shaped from a distance.
