The local Aboriginals refer to the mountain as "Jirramen" that means knee in Aboriginal language.
Mount Kosciusko is the highest mountain peak in Australia. The height of the mountain is 7,310 ft or 2,228 m. It is a part of the Snowy Mountains of the Australian Alps and is situated in the Kosciusko National Park. The mountain was named after Tadeusz Kosciuszko in the year in the year 1860.
