Christmas is the time to celebrate with family members and close relations only. On the eve of Christmas, people start the occasion during the afternoon, adorning the Christmas tree called "Christbaum" with colorful toys, small bells, straw stars and crystal balls. Even self made items, chocolate, sweets as well as fruits are used to decorate. Finally candles complete the design. Some only use crystal ball, silvery or else golden items and candles. :Later the Christmas Crib "Krippe" which is a figurative depiction of the Holy Family in the stable with the Jesus is erected.
Then children leave the room for the Bescherung to take place. 'Christkindl' which is the equivalent of Santa Claus come and place presents below the trees. The children return and the candles are lit. Singing of Christmas carols are done and stories are read. The Vienna Christmas eve is seriously adhered to along with Christmas carp and sausages. The presents are finally opened and it is contemplation time for the midnight services ("Christmette").

Christmas Day is time for family visits and receptions for the people of the area to come together. The day is celebrated with happy merrymaking.
