A huge project has been undertaken to lengthen the main runway of the Ganja Airport, the cost of which is around $40 million. The project has been completed thereby making way for the international direct international flights to the city of ganja. Owing to the rising demands of the travelers similar projects are underway at Zaqtala and Lenkoran which would be completed in the year 2007.
The Nakhichevan airport serves both the purpose of being the civil as well as military air base for which it is of prime importance in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
