The State Carpet Museum in Baku is totally set up on the collection of carpet-maker and sculptor Latif Karimov, who lived during 1906 to 1991. This was founded in the disused Friday Mosque that is in Baku. The location of the museum is in the inner city and this place is named as Ichari Shahar, popularly called the Friday Mosque. The country of Azerbaijan got its independence in the year 1992. During that time the museum moved from the mosque to the place that was formerly known as Lenin Museum.
