Red Church in Minsk is one of the prestigious symbols of the capital. The Neo-Gothic style of the church and its red brick structure is of much architectural significance. The church is situated on the principal square of Minsk in the downtown. The Union of cinematographers of Belarus was placed here during the Soviet era. However, their stay in the church did not cause any damage to the building. After the church was returned to the believers, it was restored in its former glory immediately.

Red Church, Minsk was built at the beginning of 20th century. The church was built with the support of Edward Vojnilovich, one of the noblemen of Belarus during that period. The church was named in memory of his children Simeon and Elena who died at an early age. The project was creation of T. Pojazdersky, an eminent architect from Warsaw. The church was consecrated in 1910.

The Red Church was returned to its believers in 1990 and soon, it became one of the most popular among the local people. The church has a spacious hall, and has beautiful ornamental features. The stained-glass windows that you see are according to Belarusian national art traditions. The main portal is decorated with the family arms of Vojnilovich.

Apart from the Red Church, Minsk, the other sites which you must visit in this part of Belarus are Cathedral of Saint Virgin Mary and Village Museum. A visit to these sites is recommended while you are on your Minsk Travel.
