The Lighthouse Monument is an imposing structure situated at Fort George Point at the entrance to the harbor. The lighthouse was built from the funds donated by Baron Bliss, the country's greatest benefactor. He was Portugal 's fifth Baron. His tomb is located infront of Baron Bliss Lighthouse Monument.
St. John's Cathedral
The cathedral is situated towards the southern edge of the Albert Street. It is Belize's oldest building. Besides the cathedral stands Central America's oldest Anglican Church. The cathedral was built by slaves in the 19th century. The bricks used in building the cathedral were transported to Belize from Europe by ships. They were transported as ballast in the hulls of ships. The cathedral on its completion served as the site to host the coronation ceremonies of Indian Kings belonging to the Mosquito Coast.
