  • Hopkins & Sittee River, Dangriga - The town of Hopkins is located 8 miles south of Dangriga. From the Southern Highway, a four-mile dirt access road leads to the town. The village has beaches and a number of restaurants and bars. You can sail, kayak, fish or boat to the Cayes. The Sittee River Village is four miles south of Hopkins which comprises a small Creole community. There is a ruined 19th century sugar mill which has been designated a park.

  • Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Preserve, Dangriga – This was established in 1990 and is world renowned for being the first jaguar reserve. The reserve also protects the two major river systems and supports hardwood vegetation and a diverse fauna. This is a reserve of over 128,000 acres of lush jungle surrounded by the spectacular Cockscomb Mountains. There are numerous nature trails, each varying in degrees of difficulty. While going through the trail you can have breathtaking views across the Basin and waterfalls. The reserve protects five types of Belize's cats: Jaguar, Puma, Margay, Jaguarundi, and Ocelot. Baird's Tapir also inhabits the Basin and is home to 290 different species of birds.

  • Gulisi Garifuna Museum, Dangriga – It is named after a Garífuna heroine who with her 13 children came to Belize. She founded the village of Punta Negra in Toledo District. This museum opened in 2004 and displays Garífuna history and life. There are exhibits on migration of Garifuna from Africa to St. Vincent, then to Roatan and Belize. There is also an exhibit on Thomas Vincent Ramos who established the first Garífuna Settlement Day in 1941. Other displayed items are Garífuna clothing, food and music and dance paintings by Garífuna artists including Benjamin Nicholas.
