Visiting these scenic and historic places during your sightseeing in Thimphu will certainly make your Thimphu tours a lifetime experience.

The most popular and frequented spot for sightseeing in Thimphu is the Tashichho Dzong. Built in 1661 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the Dzong is also known as Fortress of the Glorious Religion. One of the most grand edifices in the city, the building houses some of the main government departments, like the throne room of the king, the National Assembly, and summer headquarters of the Central Monastic Body. Located right in front of the SAARC building in Thimpu, this palace is the venue for the annual 5-day Tshechu festival. The building of Dzong was reconstructed in 1962 by the Late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
