Homens Pretos, Belem

The church of Nossa Senhora do Rosario dos Homens Pretos, Belem is also known as Our Lady of the Rosary of the Blacks. Homens Pretos, Belem was designed by Landi but was not built until 1820. The original church on the location was built in 1682 to house a picture of the Virgin found by a hunter in the forest near Belem. The figure of the Virgen de Nazaré is carried in the Procissao do Círio de Nazare, the most important religious festival in the whole of northern Brazil.

Belem is a city in the northern part of Brazil. It is the capital and also the biggest city of the state of Para. Its urban area has approximately 2.09 million inhabitants. It is the entrance gate and, together with Manaus, the most important city in the Brazilian Amazon area. It is also recognized as Cidade das Mangueiras and known as the city of mango trees due to the number of mango trees found in the city.

Apart from Homens Pretos, Belem, the visitors can also pay a visit to many different places of attractions. The guests can pay a visit to the Ladeira do Castelo. It includes Ladeira do Castelo. The Ladeira do Castelo, which links the fort with the old town, is the city's oldest street, lined with buildings faced with panels of Portuguese azulejos and superb churches. Many of the buildings date from the middle of the 18th century, when Belem welcomed artists from many European countries, who brought the neo classical method to Brazil.

Apart from Homens Pretos, Belem, the visitors can also pay a visit to the Teatro da Paz popularly known as the Peace Theatre. It was built in 1874 during the rubber boom in the Amazon region and can seat an audience of 1100. The curtain is a symbol of the Republic that came from Paris.

Again apart from Homens Pretos, Belem, there is also the Cathedral. Landi. The present one was made in Rome and presented to the Cathedral by Pope Pius XI. It includes a painting of the Virgin by the Lisbon painter Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho.
