Palacio Lauro Sodre, Belem is at a walking distance in the east of Belem. Palácio Lauro Sodre that features the Museu do Estado do Para and the Palacio Antonio Lemos, which includes the MABE that is Museu de Arte de Belem.

Many of the buildings date from the middle of the 18th century, when Belem attracted artists from many European countries, who brought the neo classical method to Brazil.
Again apart from Palacio Lauro Sodre, Belem the guests can also visit the Nossa Senhora das Merces. It is located to the east of the Ver-o-Peso Market is the church of the convent of Nossa Senhora das Mercas, begun in 1640 and completed in 1748. Some art historians believe that Landi was involved in the reconstructing of the church in 1777 and thoroughly altered the original design.
The guests can also visit by moving towards south of the Jesuit College is the Cathedral of Belem, the foundation stone of which was laid in 1748 on the lines of Joao V of Portugal; the building was finally completed in 1771. The neo classical towers and gable were planned by Antonio Giuseppe Landi, an architect born in Bologna in 1708 who settled in Belem in the year 1753.
You can also see the Cathedral. The present one was made in Rome and gifted to the Cathedral by Pope Pius XI. It features a painting of the Virgin by the Lisbon painter Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho.
There is also the Teatro da Paz popularly known as the Peace Theatre. It was built in 1874 during the rubber boom in the Amazon region and can place an audience of 1100. The curtain is a symbol of the Republic that came from Paris.
