Gaya Tours

Gayasisa lies on the right side of the river running along the old road to Bodhgaya. On climbing up the hill and walking a short distance, you can see a large area of exposed rock, which is probably the place where Lord Buddha delivered his sermon to his audiences. Tankitamancha, now known as Sujikund, is a large tank where Lord Buddha had his famous encounters and dialogues with the malevolent spirit Suchiloma.

Located near the Vishnupada Temple (one of the most sacred temples for Hindus) and surrounded by a strong stonewall, Sujikund has few Stupas and Buddhist statues (near the Ghat) worth visiting on your Gaya tour. Another major attraction for Buddhist visiting Gaya is the Gaya Museum, which has a beautiful collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures.

How to Reach

Gaya is an important town of Bihar and so is well connected by Rail and Road with major cities of India. The nearest airport from Gaya is at Bodhgaya (12 km), which is especially developed for the Buddhist pilgrims.
