Kratie is a lovely town tucked on the east bank of the Mekong River. It is the capital city of Kratie Province of Cambodia. The 100 Column Pagoda is situated in the Sam Bor District, 36 kilometers away from the town of Kratie. The pagoda is situated on the site where the Royal Palace Temple stands. The attractions of the pagoda are 4 Buddhist temples- the Vihear Sar Sar facing the north, the Vihear Lao facing towards the west, Vihear Kork facing the south and the Vihear Kork Keut facing towards the east. The Vihear Sar Sar was constructed in 1860. Due to thunder and lightning 22 columns were destroyed in fire. However, the pagoda was restored and inaugurated in 1998. Presently the pagoda houses 116 columns.
