Phnom Sar Sear, Kep City is a fabulous natural and cultural resort situated at a distance of 14 km. from the provincial town of Kam Pot. The legend has it that when the king Sa Kor Reach and his troops arrived at the seaside area, the king got off the horseback and crawled along the mountain side for fleeing. That time, the mountain was an island. Hence, the place got the name 'Sar Sear' which means to 'move furtively'. Phnom Sar Sear, Kep City is one of the major Tourist Attractions in Kep City which you must not miss during your Kep City Tours.

Phnom Sar Sear in Kep City consists of three small mountains spread across a total land area of approximately 1.5 square kilometers. The mountain rises to a height of around 40 meters. Tourists can visit the mountain caves here. Among the caves, the cave of Phnom Ach Pro Chiev and particularly, the cave of Phnom Dam Rey Sar are the most well known ones. Here, you will find a great architecture of Viel Sre inside.

Phnom Sar Sear, Kep City makes for an idyllic destination for leisure travelers who are in quest of solitude amidst the beauty of nature. Kep is a seaside city located 173 kilometers to the south west of Phnom Penh. It was founded in 1908 during the times of the French colonization. During the Prince Norodom Sihanouk's Sangkum Reastr Niyum regime in the 1960s, it was made a beautiful seaside resort. The city got its name from the French words 'le cap' or 'cape' in English.

On the mountaintop of Phnom Sar Sear, Kep City, you will find a colorful stupa which is a fine example of artistic excellence. It was built in 1964 by the princess Rasmey Sou Phoan. The Stupa is a holy worshipping place where, it is believed, the three sacred objects of Buddhist and the cremated ash of Buddha are kept. There are meandering stairs, pagodas with monks and cottages for nuns and common people set across the area from the mountain foot to the top. On the mountaintop, you will experience a scenery of rice fields, forest, local villages, island and the vast sea. The mountain is also a worshipping place for people who come here for praying.
