In 1997, Kbal Chhay was made a developing zone to attract investments. In 1998 the area was rapidly developed by the Kok An Company. The company constructed roads and transformed it into a tourist resort for international and local tourists. Presently the Water Source of Kbal Chhay is used by the government as the clean water source for the town.
