Fon's palace: Travel in Cameroon is never complete without a visit to this palace which lies to the north of Bamenda, the home of the Tikar community of Bafut. They were the most powerful among the Grassfields kingdoms. This 700 year old palace comprises of numerous buildings including the houses of the fon's 150-or-so wives and the sacred Achum building. Several stones can be found in front of the palace buildings which mark the burial sites of nobles who died while serving the fon, and the Takombang House.
