The Benoue Park is Cameroon's one of the most important national parks and game reserves. The level of the sandy Benoue River around the park fluctuates seasonally and exposes sandbars which provide habitat for plovers and other water birds in the dry season. The park is largely surrounded by Hunting Reserves.
