Getting to Chile is not much of a problem. You can travel to this amazing place by air, land or water. There are more than dozens of European and North American flights that serve Santiago and some even daily. For flights from Europe the lower limit is about USD600 and 900 roundtrip, reckoning on the season. There are direct flights from New York, Miami or Los Angeles. But the Airpass from Lan Chile for domestic flights can be booked through an agency overseas.
You can also get to this country via land also. Visitors from Peru, Bolivia or Argentina can come through any of the border crossings. But before coming you should be sure of the road conditions for the Andean passes in Central and Southern Chile especially the road from Mendoza to Los Angeles you should be prepared for snowfall.
Visa and tourist card
The citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Canada, U.S.A., South America and most EU countries do not need a visa to visit this land. They can get access to the tourist card when they land here. This card is valid for 90days and has to be shown when leaving this country. But the tourists from most of African, Asian and formerly Soviet States will need a tourist visa that can be applied for at any of the Chilean Consulate.
Fees
Citizens of USA, Canada, Australia and Mexico have to pay a fee at the Santiago airport equal to what the Chileans have to pay when embarking these respective countries.
Luggage
You can carry two pieces of luggage, 32kg each in addition to one piece of carry on luggage. Additional luggages will be charged in accordance to rule.
