Chengdu situated southwest of China is famous for the historical sights and the palatable Sichuan food. This lively city has many tourist attractions out of which Manjushri Temple is one of them.

Built in 1691 the Manjushri Temple is situated north of the Chengdu town. This temple covers a huge area of 12.5acres of land and has five temples within it. All these were built above the ruins of an earlier monastery that dates back to the Southern Dynasties covering the period from 420 to 589. These temples were built in wood and stone and reflects traditional Chinese architecture. These temples have also been subjected to destruction but were rebuilt during the Tongzhi period that is in the 19th century.

Once you are here tourists must visit the The Hall of Shuofa Tang. Here you can see ten iron statues of Buddhist guardian gods that dates back to the Song period. As you visit the Cangjing Lou you can find more than 100 bronze sculptures of Buddhas and Buddhist saints. These are collections from the Qing era.

Do not miss to check out the Daci Si that houses materials dating back to the Tang period You can also see some valuable wall paintings.

The other tourist attractions that you can visit in Chengdu are Temple of Prince Wu, Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Emei Mountain, Wangjiang Tower Park, Dinosaur Museum in Zingong and many others.
