The Monastery of Precious Light Chengdu is located lies 15 kilometers to the north of Chengdu. The monastery is home to about 500 monks who practice Buddhism. The site is mainly a religious place. In addition to the temples there are about a dozen courtyards. The main courtyard is that lies close to the Sheli Pagoda.

The top most 8 levels are twisted compared to the lower ones. Besides, they are a bit off- center. The base of the pagoda is beautifully carved. The walls of the structures are white washed. The walls have small glassed niches. All these glassed niches have gilded statures of Buddha.

The Monastery of Precious Light Chengdu covers a total area of 20 acres. There are about 20 structures that are spread all over the area. The monastery is one of the best places to known about curious facts about Buddhism. The Stone tablet that features 1000 relief of Buddha is one of the major attractions. Probable this dates back to 540 AD. There are also about 500 statues made of terracotta in the monastery. All these terracotta statues belong to the Qing Period.
