Black Dragon Pool, Lijiang is one of the major tourist attractions in Lijiang which has become widely popular over the years. The Black Dragon Pool is known for its crystal clear water. The Black Dragon Pool, Lijiang is situated on the Wulao Hills, north of the old town and is known for its four attractions- Han Temple, the Tang Plum Tree, the Sung Cypress and the Ming tomb. This pool is also known as the Heilongtan Gongyuan. The park which surrounds the pool was built in 1737 by the Qing Dynasty.

The Dongba culture includes elements from Lamaism, Buddhism and Daoism. The scriptures comprises of a series of books which is done in Naxi pictographs. The name Dongba refers to the wise men who had extensive knowledge of medical science, literature, architecture and craftsmanship. The Dongba Research Institute translates the various works which provide information on the history and culture of the ancient Naxi people. Many foreign scholars visit this place to carry out extensive research work.
