The side walls of this raised platform have been made of limestone and it is lined with city wall bricks that belonged to the Ming Dynasty. These bricks have been glued together with lime and yellow clay.
What is surprising about the Palace of the Heavenly Kingdom, Nanjing is that just behind the palace there is a hallway and also a room for keeping warm. On all the sides of the hallway there are three rows of halls that are in the form of the alphabet I. On the western part of the axis of the palace there is an architectural group. This is known as the West Garden and this replicates the Xiyuan Garden in the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty.
