The Tomb of King He Lu makes Tiger Hill, Suzhou one of the chief tourist attractions in Suzhou. In the year 496 BC, during the spring and autumn period, He Lu, King of the Wu died in the war against the Yue. He was buried by his son within the hill. Three days later a white tiger was found guarding the tomb. Hence it was named the Tiger Hill.

Another attraction of the Tiger Hill in Suzhou is the Tiger Hill Pagoda. Commanding pride atop the tiger hill, the pagoda of the Yunyan Temple is a major attraction for tourists and travelers. As the oldest pagoda in the neighborhood of Suzhou, the pagoda has become a representation of the city. It is known throughout China owing to its uniqueness as a Leaning Tower. Constructed at the time of the Northern Song Dynasty, it is a seven-storey octahedron built on the style of the timber pagodas of the early Tang period.

You must also catch a glimpse of the Sword Testing Stone and Sword Pool at Tiger Hill, Suzhou. King He Lu had a fetish for rare swords and it is believed that he examined them upon this stone. A deep crack in the rock testifies to the existence of these swords. It is said that these swords were hidden under the Sword Pool as funerary objects.
