West Garden Temple in Suzhou stands majestically on Xiyuan Alley in city of Suzhou. The temple was built during the rule of the Yuan Dynasty. It is 700 years old. The temple spreads over an area of 1.6 acres. It is the the city's largest temple. The temple ground houses many holy temples and landscaped gardens with a river winding its way by the temple. It presently serves as a monastery for the Buddhist monks.

Fangsheng Pond is the greatest attraction of the temple. In the middle of the pond you will find an octagonal pavilion. The pavilion adorned with trees and flowers, houses mansions and a bending bridge. The pond is home to fishes and rare tortoises.
