Motuanga Cave, Mauke is one of the top-class Tourist Attractions in Mauke in the Cook Islands. The Motuanga Cave, Mauke is well-known as the "Cave of the 100 Chambers" in the region. The Motuanga Cave is a natural wonder that has attracted tourists from all over the place in large numbers.

The largest cave of the Mauke Island is this Motuanga Cave. You will get to see this Cave, when you come to visit one of the most beautiful islands of the world the Cook Islands. The entrance of the Motuanga Cave is on land and the passages lead towards the sea and terminate in a large pool under the reef.

In the final chamber of the cave, the waves can be heard roaring above. Today, there is nobody alive who has reached the 100th chamber. Legends state that many people have gone up to the 100th chamber, although you can see nobody at present. Altogether 8 chambers are known, including the 2 which are underwater and have being discovered by the scuba divers.

Near to the fine and stylish Motuanga Cave in Mauke, there are 3 large cavities, Vai Moti, Vai Tukume and Vai Mau. The underground lakes at the bottom of these holes are ideal for swimming and scuba diving. As you try to enter the Motuanga Cave, you will get to see large palm-size crabs scuttling across the path.

Mauke is a wonderful picturesque, unhurried, friendly and a tranquil place, ideal for spending a dream vacation with family and friends. Apart from the Motuanga Cave of Mauke, tourists and travelers will get to see Puarakura Marae. The Puarakura Marae is an ancient meeting ground that is still in use for ceremonial functions.

Other tourist sites in Mauke feature numerous coves and lovely white beaches as well as caves in which to swim. The huge and fine Motuanga Cave, Mauke has galleries which reach out under the reef. Motuanga Cave means the "Cave of 100 Rooms".
