The Taputapuatea standing in a shady park like setting across the road and the restored palace of Queen Makea Takau Ariki are a must see in Rarotonga. The Palace was very lively when Queen Makea visited in the 19th century. The Tupapa Sports Ground stands opposite the national museum. The people here take rugby seriously. The journey ends at Avatiu Harbor, which is the commercial port here.
