St Peter's Church
St Peter's Church is the largest parish church in Croatia with a capacity of around 3000 people. Because 90 meter high spire which is visible from all parts of Osijek it is referred to as 'the cathedral' although it is onle a parish church. The interior decoration of the Church is a wonder. The stoneworks by Austrian sculptor Hauser, the stunning stained glass windows and the pinnacled alters are the main attraction of the church from artistic point of view.
Tvrda
Tvrda the self-contained 18th-century Hapsburg fortress is another one of the Osijek Tourist Attractions. The citadel is located to the east corner of Osijek city center. This well-preserved baroque military compound, contains many buildings which house bars and clubs.
Valpovo
The Valpovo museum, another stopover while Sightseeing in Osijek, is housed in a castle in the heart of the city. The Romans built the Normann Prandau castle prior to the Middle Ages. The castle was owned by several families from time to time prior to the Turkish conquest. Today the castle houses the Valpovo Museum that showcases the antique furniture collection and the archaeological findings from this region.
Gallery of Fine Arts
The Gallery of Fine Arts in Osijek is also known as Gallery of Visual Arts. The museum exhibits a variety of 18th and 19th Century paintings. The 20th Century artworks collection include the works by the Zagreb Mottled School founder Vlaho Bukovac. The sculptures by such artists such as Mestrovic and several other leading Croatian sculptors are on display here.
Museum of Slavonia
The Museum of Slavonia is a must see during Osijek Travel. The old Town Hall on the eastern side of the main square houses the Osijek Museum of Slavonia. The collection in the museum are mostly related to the history of Slovania. A varied display portray the history of Slovania from the Bronze Age to the Roman conquest. The main collection comprises statues, pottery, coins, costumes and textiles and artifacts from the Roman, Illyrian and Greek cultures.
