Bakar is a lovely small town located just towards the east of Rijeka. The town is divided into two parts namely the Grad and Primorje. Grad is the old part of the town while Primorje is the new section of the town of Bakar. Primorge is tucked towards the coastal region. The Frankopan Castle built in the 15 th century and the Bakar Civic Museum and the local church are some of the attractions of this town. The Cathedral of St Vitus used to formerly called the Church of St Vitus. The original structure of the cathedral was built by Giacomo Briano. It took hundred years to build it. The church was completed in 1774. The Cathedral houses Baroque altars and a 13 th century old miraculous crucifix.
