Sibenik is the port city in northern Dalmatia in Croatia. Situated near the estuary of the Krka river flowing into the Bay of Sibenik, the city is connected by narrow straits with the Sibenik Channel. The geography of the land has made it a natural harbor with the bay surrounded by the hill slopes. Like other popular Tourist Destinations in Croatia, Sibenik also has a growing tourism industry.

The Old Town of Sibenik City has kept its old charms alive with the narrow and steep alleys in the west of the town and the old fortresses of St. Anne and St. John. Sibenik, the cultural center in Croatia is also a popular destination for the excursionists. Sibenik is situated at the crossroads of Zadar - Sibenik - Split and Sibenik - Drnis - Knin highways. The city is connected to the Croatian capital, Zagreb by a railroad via Perkovic. Ferry connections to the neighboring islands of Prvic, Zirje, Zlarin, Obonjan and Kaprije also make Sibenik travel convenient for the tourists.

Sibenik in Croatia is known for its rich cultural heritage and historic past. Several historical monuments are found scattered in the city. One of the most beautifully maintained architectural instances from the late medieval period is the famous Cathedral of Sibenik. The city hosts several cultural events. The most popular cultural events in Sibenik are the International Child's Festival held during the last week in June and first week in July; the Summer Organ School and the Sibenik Summer and the Day of St. James.

Sibenik is located in the archipelago in Europe where the Karst hydrographical phenomena comprising Skradinski Buk, Visovac, Roski Waterfall, form the most attractive recreational zone on the Adriatic in Croatian territory. Its natural settings provides immense scopes for several activities like trekking, hiking and camping.

Sports facilities are abundant in Sibenik. The city is the home to the world famous basketball player, Drazen Petrovic. You will find several recreational sports ground around the city along with beach volleyball courts and channels for water sports like yachting and rowing. Horse riding and hunting small games are popular activities in Sibenik.
