Cubana operates from Havana thrice in a week. You can reach the Bayamo Airport called Aeropuerto Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Carretera a Holguín, which is 10 kilometers north of Bayamo. The moment you reach this airport, you can travel by bus, taxi or hired car to the heart of the city.

Travel by bus

Traveling by bus can be most convenient. You can avail of buses from Havana, Santiago as well as the other important cities in Cuba. The route from Trinidad to Santiago de Cuba is very comfortable. The bus departs from Trinidad at 8am and reaches Bayamo by 6.15 pm. The buses departing from Santiago leave at 9am, 3:15pm, and 10pm. It takes around 2 hours and 5 minutes to reach Bayamo from there. On the Havana-Santiago line, the buses leave at 9:30am, 3pm, and 10pm. It takes around 14 hours to reach Bayamo from Havana.

The primary bus terminal for long distance buses is Terminal de Omnibuses. It is located on the fringes of the town on Carretera Central. It lies in close proximity to Avenida Jesús Rabi.

Travel by train

Traveling by train can be very comfortable. You can avail of train no. 13, which leaves from Havana's Estación Central at 8:15pm. It arrives at Bayamo the following day at 10.30am. Note that not all the trains running from Havana to Santiago, stop at Bayamo. You need to check the time of boarding since the train timings change quite often. The Bayamo train station is located at Calle Línea, which lies between José Antonio Saco and Parada, 1 kilometer from the heart of the city.
