Ciego de Avila stands as one of the provinces in Cuba. The capital city of Ciego de Avila is set on the Carretera Central. Moron is another notable city in this province which is located to the northern part. Ciego de Avila is frequented by a good number of tourists every year.

The major cities in this province of Ciego de Avila include Bolivia, Chambas, Baragua, Ciro Redondo, Majagua, Venezuela, Florencia and Primero de Enero. The total area of the province is 6,783.13 square kilometers.

Few of the Jardines del Rey group of islands situated off the northern coast of the province of Ciego de Avila have been turned into tourist resorts. The Cayo Guillermo and the Cayo Coco are two such examples. The coastal region in the southern part of the province features mangroves and marshlands.

Various majestic lakes can be seen in the area between the northern coastal part and the city of Moron. The largest natural lake in the nation, Laguna de Leche is located in this region.

The central part of the province of Ciego de Avila is suitable for cattle farming. In the other parts, the cultivation of pineapples, sugar and citrus fruits take place. The chief crop here is pineapple. However, the province also grows potatoes, bananas, yucca and sweet potatoes.

The capital city of Ciego de Avila is situated on the Carretera Central highway. There is a railroad too and the port Jucaro is based on the coast of the Gulf of Ana Maria in the Caribbean Sea.

With a population of about 86,100, Ciego de Avila features several territorial districts, such as, Ceballos, Angel Csatillo, Guanales, Jocotea, La Ceiba, Norte, Sur, San Nicolas and few more.

The major tourist attractions in Ciego de Avila comprise Teatro Prinicipal and Parque Marti. The former is a theater featuring 500 seats and is situated near Parque Marti. The latter is the largest city park in Ciego de Avila. The prime educational institution in Ciego de Avila is the University of Ciego de Avila.
