The Museum of the Revolution, Havana is situated in the building which was the former residence of the presidents of the Republic from 1920 till 1960. On March 23, 1957, the Presidential palace was stormed by a group of University students to assassinate the dictator Fulgencio Batista. But the attempt failed and most of the attackers were killed in the event. This event along with the attack on the Moncada barracks was the beginning of the last stage of the Cuban revolution.
