The Parque Vidal, Santa Clara is a lovely place to visit while Sightseeing in Santa Clara in Cuba. This park covers an entire square block and is located in the center of Santa Clara. In the middle of the park is the Glorieta (gazebo) which was erected in 1911 and still used for public concerts. The City’s Philharmonic Band reunites inside the structure at night fall, once a week to play traditional music. There is a standing bust in honor of Leoncio Vidal in the north of the Glorieta. He was a hero who died fighting in this place against the Spanish forces and the park is named after him. Just near the bust is an obelisk which was the first monument raised in the park. The obelisk was dedicated to the priest who migrated along with other families from the coastal town of Remedios and founded the city.
In this Cuban Attraction you will also find the iconic statue of “el niño de la bota” (Child with a boot). The statue is of bronze and depicts a boy with a boot in his hand from which the water runs out. Just south of this statue is a 1924 bronze statue of Marta Abreu. The statue at the Parque Vidal in Santa Clara has a base filled with papers, magazines and objects collected and left inside it for future generations.
Parque Vidal, Santa Clara is one of the main Tourist Attractions in Santa Clara and borders the anta Clara Libre Hotel (formerly the Santa Clara Hilton).
