The Copenhagen Opera House, Copenhagen was given to the Danish state by the A.P. Moller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Moller Foundation in August 2000. Some politicians were upset by the private donation, in part because the full price of the project would be tax sum and thus almost forcing the government to buy the building. But it was granted by the Folketing and the government in the autumn of 2000. It was planned by the architect Henning Larsen, engineers Ramboll and Buro Happold and Theatre Consultant Theatreplan.

In spite of its deluxe equipment, there are only about 1500 seats because a bigger number of seats would obstruct the quality of sound.
