Water Tower, Esbjerg
Water Tower, Esbjerg is one of the landmark structures in the city of Esbjerg. Water Tower in Esbjerg was built by C.H. Clausen during 1896-1897. The tower stands tall on a burial mound that dates back to the Bronze Age, above the city harbor, amidst the Esbjerg municipal park.
History of Water Tower, Esbjerg
During 1894-1895 the small city of Esbjerg had no waterworks. The city was fed by water posts and wells. However, after a spate of unsuccessful attempts of drilling to find water, the city people discovered water in Vognsbol Park. It led to the building of the Water Tower. It provided water supply to the city. It is said that the tower held 131 cubic meters of water. When the city consumption rose another tower was built and following that water was directly let out into the homes. Later the Water Tower, Esbjerg served to contain the surplus water.

Presently Water Tower is open to visitors. The visitors are required to pay an admission fee to visit the tower. It houses a museum which has an extensive collection of artifacts, paintings, sculptures covering the history of the city and its development.
