Holstebro is an old commercial and industrial town in north-west Jutland. It is the center of a rural catchments area. The place has a technical college, museums and a theater. A laser sculpture found here is especially worthy of note. Along with the sculpture another chief attraction is the Norre Vosborg Mansion.
About 18 kilometers or 11 miles west of Holstebro lies the village of Vemb. Close to the south of the village lies the Mansion of Norre Vosborg. At one point of time, it was ringed with walls for protection from both attack and from floods. The main building is of 4 wings. The oldest part of the building dates back to the year 1552.
In about 1780, the property came into the possession of the merchant Peder Tang. He was a former servant who due to a stroke of luck won lots of money. He built the classical gatehouse and a courtyard with a bell-tower, based on a Dutch model. In 1859, Hans Christian Andersen was a guest here.
