Is adventure your cup of tea? Then go for climbing in Quito. Climbing trips in Quito provide tourists with a chance to have a glimpse of some beautiful mountains, volcanoes and other picturesque landscapes. So come and enjoy climbing in Quito.
Quito is a beautiful city in Ecuador and is also the capital of the country. If you are interested in climbing then travel north of Quito and climb the rocky peak that seems to touch the sky. This mountain has a number of projections sticking out from it and thus came to be known as "Las Antenas". You can also go on a hiking trip in the Cruz Loma or the higher peak Rucu Pichincha (4627m). It takes around 4 to 5 hours to climb these summits.
Want to enjoy the most of climbing then do not forget to check out the active Guagua Pichincha. Located 4794 meters above the sea-level this was a dormant volcano but awoke from its slumber towards the end of 1999. If you are heading for this particular trip then make sure that you take a guide with you who is well-equipped about the region. It is again advisable not to visit the inner depths of the crater.
In order to reach these spots tourists must hire a jeep or a car. If you are a beginner then it is advisable to book a guided jeep tour. There is also a Refuge near the Guagua Pichincha. Run by the Defensa Civil it provides the tourists with beds and water for overnight stays. You must bring with you blankets and readymade food items as these are not provided. There is a sight warden also.
Other materials that you must bring while you are carrying a climbing trip in Quito are normal waterproof and warm clothing. This is because the weather is very chilling at this level of altitude. From the refuge the ascent to the summit is only 20 minutes but it is advisable to walk slowly as you can face dizziness and shortness of breath.
