The most important structure of San Francisco in Quito is the temple of San Francisco. This temple, which was founded in 1535, has one part of it converted to San Francisco Museum, Quito. San Francisco Museum, Quito is a place where you would find about four thousand objects including sculptures, linen clothes and furniture.

As you enter through the main entrance hall of the San Francisco Museum located in the San Francisco Square, you would get to see various types of artifacts. All the collectibles of the museum are spread across the main entrance hall. The cloister, the stair way and the huge lounge are all now part of the San Francisco Museum in Quito and have excellent collections of religious arts and sculptures.

In the main hall of the museum, you would find an exhibition of 250 works of various famous sculptors and painters. Some of the sculptors whose works you can see here are Miguel de Santiago, Caspicara and Legarda. Among the collections of the museum, you would also find hundreds of work by various English painters, who were influenced by the local painters.

Other than the various paintings dating back to the 18th and the 19th centuries, you would also find here statues of Jesus' disciples. This is the masterpiece known by the name of Passion of Christ and was created by the famous sculptor Miguel de Santiago.

Some other collections include the works of Diego de Robles, Manuel Chili, Bernardine of Legarda, Mateo Mejia and Gregorio de Vásquez. You cannot help but appreciate the map of South Africa, which was painted in the year 1775.

After you finish watching the collectibles, you can go to the old brewery which was built during the year 1566. Watch the various instruments in which the drink was made at that time. Another site worth watching is the old courtyard that you can see from the window of the building.
