The Jardin Botanico La Carolina, Santo Domingo de los Colorados in Ecuador is a botanical garden which has around seventeen stretches which are in possession of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador. This botanical garden is in the tropical west of this country. The source of this garden was a contribution of land to the Diocese of Santo Domingo in the year 1999. The Jardin Botanico La Carolina, Santo Domingo de los Colorados was the hard work and determination of Lorenzo Stehle who made this project possible.
The Jardin Botanico La Carolina in Santo Domingo de los Colorados is situated in Santo Domingo de los Colorados in the country of Ecuador. It is made up with the protective forest La Perla forty-two kilometer of the track Santo Domingo-La Concordia.
The exhibits of various botanical species discovered in the tropics of the western part of this country and other collections are displayed here.
You will find Palmas of around one hundred and sixty species which have been accumulated from different parts of this nation. Crotones is a plant which is generally orange and yellow in color. You will find this plant here. An avenue of cucardas has been formed around 500 meters into a maze like structure.
Out here you will find a footpath jungle, which has trees like pambil, toquilla straw, cane and guadua raft and flowers like zingiberales. These tropical plants look very beautiful.
You will also find Cacti and other plants which are known for their water storage. Apart from the cacti species, there are three hundred and fifty species of orchid which have been collected from the wildlife expeditions undertaken by professionals from overseas. You will also find around 30 species of trees which bear fruits.
Medicinal plants which have been collected from various parts of the world are also found in this botanical garden. Some such plants are cat's claw, chilca and noni. You will also get to see several plants which were brought from the Amazon forest.
