Temple of Hathor, Abu Simbel



Owing to the array of sightseeing options including temples, excavation sites, ancient ruins, and historical sites, Abu Simbel in Egypt forms a unique tourist hub. It was made separate from that of the Great Temple by means of a sand-covered area.

Tourists can notice six statues in front of the temple. More or less all such statues feature a height of about 115 meters. Among those six statues, four statues are of Ramesses, and two are of his wife, Nefertari. Surrounding these astounding statues, few small-sized statues can be noticed. Those are of their children which are built in pairs at the base of the major statues. Hanging over the entranceway is a structure resembling cobras.

The entire structure of the Temple of Hathor, Abu Simbel comprises of a hall supported with a single column, a passageway and two chamber rooms at the side. Visitors can get to notice six pillars in the Hypostyle Hall. On the top of those pillars are the capitals of Hathor. There is a consecrated area where can be noticed an impressive structure of a cow protruding from the wall.

Exquisite paintings and art designs portraying Ramesses and Nefertari can be seen on the walls. Their figures are pictured in different postures owing to their eminence and glories. The remarkable scenes in which Ramsses banishes his enemy are worth viewing.
