Historical Reliefs, Aswan
One will find on the walls of the Rock Temple's vestibule a large number of historical reliefs. The Historical Reliefs in Aswan comprises scenes on the left and right side of the walls of the vestibule. It is hard to overlook the two most beautiful scenes towards the left hand wall. The two scenes depict the victory of the king over the Kushites who are now called Negroes. In one of these scenes you will find the king sitting towards the right below a canopy and higher officials bringing different types of gifts. Amongst all the gifts shown in the scene a tablet gains prominence in the picture. The tablet is shown decorated with plants. The high officials are followed by 2 Negroes in fetters. Other Negroes are shown to carry tributes like grayhounds, leopard, giraffe, ostrich and cattle. In this scene you will catch the Governor of Nubia being gifted gold chains by the king. The second scene depicted in Historical Reliefs, Aswan on the left wall shows the King mounted on a chariot and dashing towards the enemy.
