Fiji Museum in Suva
The Fiji Museum is a place which has a rich collection, both of Archaelogical and Palaeontological origin. It was founded in 1904. At first it was at the old town hall on Victoria Parade but shifted in 1954. The Museum was inaugarated in the year 1955. There is a gallery consisting of archeology, maritime, religion and rituals and publication materials on Fiji's language and culture of Fiji.
Suva City Library
It was built in the year 1909. The building was of great importance during the days of colonization in Fiji. Previously it was the Children's Library but now it upholds the integral collection of books in Fiji.
Government Building Complex
This was at first the the Parliament of Fiji, situated on the bed of the swampy brook, debilitated in 1935. About five kilometers of reinforced concrete stilts were driven within the creek to support the gigantic structure. The construction ended in 1939.In 1962 a new unit was added to it. At present The Court of Fiji, the judiciary and some other Government Departments are located here
Government House
This building was built in 1882 and then re constructed in 1928, when it got destroyed by a lightning in 1921. It was first the residence of the Colonial Governors of Fiji. After the Independence in 1970, it became the home to the Governors-General of Fiji.
Suva Central plaza and The University of South Pacific
The Suva Central is the newest building of Fiji and the tallest in the South Pacific Island region. The University of South Pacific is also an eminent tourist destination.
Thurston Gardens
It is a big garden with a charming collection of flora and fauna throughout the South Pacific coast. It is named after the amateur botanist Sir John Bates Thurston. It was opened in1913 and is very well maintained and is not very crowded.There are about 78 gardens in Fiji, such as Takashi Suzuki Garden Albert Park, The Victoria Tennis Park, Children's Park and many more. These garden and parks are rich in flora and fauna varieties and on the other hand suitable for long walks, joggings and watching the beautiful sunrise and sunset.
