Before settling in this house they lived in different parts of the town. However, after Johan and Fredrika's deaths the state purchased the building and its contents from their heirs.
This Porvoo Tourist Attraction is located in the Empire district in 1852. J.L. Runeberg's home, Porvoo was opened to the public in 1882. It has also been renovated recently. You can view exceptional collections in this house. You will also find the living room well preserved. The everyday and festive life of the Runeberg family is reminded with the articles displayed in the room. The displays include hunting weapons in the ketunnahkakamari (Foxskin room), works of art and the porcelain in the cupboards.
