    The famous national poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg along with his wife Fredrika and their two sons moved to Porvoo in 1837 and they lived in different parts of the city before settling into a new home in the Empire district in 1852. The home was opened to the visitors in 1882 and was refurbished with piety during the beginning of this millennium.

    The well- preserved collections in the Runeberg home include several works of art, the hunting weapons in the ketunnahkakamari and the porcelain in the cupboards, which all serve as excellent outstanding reminders of the everyday and festive life of the Runeberg family.

    Opened in 1989, the museum houses the history of traditional boat-building on Krako Island.
